DOT Physicals

A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is a physical exam that is required of people who drive commercial vehicles. The purpose of DOT physical is to make sure that people who are driving commercial motor vehicles (CMVs), such as large trucks and buses, are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit.

Is DOT physical different than a regular physical exam?

A regular physical exam involves checking your body for health and evaluating your vital signs. A DOT exam goes more in-depth with vision and hearing tests and a drug screening to ensure you’re not taking illegal substances and driving.
